YACHT CHARTER TYRRHENIAN SEA:

Locations & Ports:
Agropoli, Salerno, Formia, Naples, Pinetamare, Procida / Marina di Procida, Rome / Ostia,

Sea & Coast:
The Pontinian Archipelago is formed by a labyrinth of small islands, just a few miles from the southern coast of the region Lazio. Because of their dreamlike beauty they are considered to be one of the most beautiful groups of islands in the Mediterranean. Palmarola is probably the most enchanting of them. In summer, when the Romans are fleeing from the hot city, it can be quite overcrowded there. Approaching Palmarola by boat, everyone is amazed by the variety of forms and colours of the rocky landscape. Five sea miles to the east the outlines of the bigger island Ponza stand out against the horizon. With its over 30 km long coast, which is formed by small swimming bays and wide gulfs, it offers perfect anchoring possibilities in front of a breath-taking backdrop. Approaching the port of Ponza, you will be impressed by the beauty of this small town with its picturesque small houses in pastel colours, which follow one after another like a coloured amphitheatre. The islands Ventotenne and Santo Stefano are situated twenty sea miles away to the east. The island Ventotenne, which was mainly formed by volcanic rocks, is famous for its ancient Roman port, sunk into the rocks. The port is fully operative even now – a real masterpiece of Roman architecture! On the island Santo Stefano is situated a dungeon from the times of Bourbons’ occupation. Now it is an interesting museum. Some twenty sea miles to the south-east you will find the charming volcanic islands. Ischia, Procida and Capri are surely the most famous and developed touristy islands of the archipelago.

Winds & Weather:
The prevailing wind direction is north or north-west. In summer, especially near the coast, this general wind direction is often overlaid by thermal winds (land and sea winds). Because of the typical Mediterranean climate with very small temperature variations, the weather in this area is perfect for sailing from March to November. During the day a good sea wind blows, which becomes stronger in the north.
